SNR Sons College: Scaling New Levels of Entrepreneurial Excellence
With over 3,100 startups, India is the fastest growing and the third largest startup ecosystem in the world, which is driven by factors such as massive funding and a burgeoning domestic market. Grasping the opportunity, SNR Sons College has created an environment that is suitable for the students to hone their entrepreneurial skills. The institution founded by the SNR Sons charities in 1987 in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, is one of the few colleges to offer the UGC sponsored career oriented programmes. The career oriented programmes are provided through the entrepreneurial development cell set up in the campus, which is more of an incubation center that is particularly for the purpose of developing the entrepreneurial skills of students. \"The students get to take home an extra certification for the course when they graduate and the certificate is an added bonus when it comes to getting the job they desire, as it acts as the evidence of their skill,\" says Dr. K Karunakaran, Principal & Secretary, SNR Sons College.
Giving equal importance to all the aspects of an educational institution is a special feature of SNR Sons College. Along with entrepreneurship cell, they also have a placement cell through which they provide pre placement Trainings in the areas of communication, aptitude, mathematics, logical and reasoning, and skill development. Since communication is one of the most important aspects of any interview, the institute places importance in sharpening the communication skills of the students. The pre placement trainings prepare students for the campus recruitments, which takes place every year. For placement and training they maintain MoUs with Roots India, Strives, Keymind India and others. The college maintains a good placement record, where the major recruiters are Wipro, HCL, TCS and others.
Being an autonomous institution the college has the liberty to change the curriculum according to the requirements of students and the industry. The curriculum is designed by a group of advisory board who are from the industry and the academic background. To keep up with the changing trends in the education sector the institution has introduced innovative courses such as Cyber Law, Herbal Technology and Gene Silencing Technology. The alumni of the institution also play a very important role in creating the syllabus. Since many of the institute\'s alumni are industry experts and entrepreneurs from diverse fields, the help they extend shaping the course curriculum makes it industry oriented. Frequent interactions with the alumni are arranged and they are also invited for all the events the college organizes.
Throughout the placement activities faculty play an active role in helping the students grab the job of their choice. The institution maintains a MoU with Outreach for teacher training. With more than 100 faculty members and more than 30 of them holding PhDs, the institute believes in keeping the teachers updated with the changing scenario of the education sector. The faculties are provided with regular trainings so that they are aware of the new concepts in the teaching process. With a teacher � student ratio of 15 : 1, each class is assigned a tutor. The role of a tutor is mentoring, guiding, counseling and directing the student to fix their track to achieve the goals.
Apart from all the facilities, the institute also provides scholarships to meritorious students. Their research activities are also very well grounded, one of the most recent projects completed by the social work department is \"Science Popularization Activities\" sponsored by Tamil Nadu State Council for Science and Technology (TNSCST). Many such research projects have been conducted throughout the campus over the years. With state of the art laboratories the students interested in research can do their work without any technical constraints.

He also worked as an Industry consultant for Sona Science Center for Testing and Applied Research, where he generated revenue of Rs. 1.3 crores. He has been a part of many social welfare activities over the years and has also received many awards for his academic contributions.

Dr. A. Ebenezer Jeyakumar, The Director (Academics) holds 39 years of teaching experience in Technical Education in Government of Tamil Nadu. He has vast experience in the field of teaching, research and administration. He has 34 International Journal Publications and more than 350 publications in International and national conferences.

Sri. R. Vijaykumhar leads the organizations of the SNR Sons Charitable Trust, established for serving the Society by providing extraordinary medical assistance and distinctive academics. He had completed his Masters in Production Engineering and MBA at Michigan University. He has close to 30 years of business and consulting experience across various domains and is actively involved in various charitable activities.
