My respects to Revered Dr. Sree Sree Sivakumara Swamiji for nurturing the institution with value system," said Dr. Abdul Kalam when he was inaugurating the Golden Jubilee Celebration to celebrate the glorious past of 50 years of Siddaganga Institute of Technology in 2013. The former President in his address emphasized the sheer quality and high standards pursued by the institute in producing such leaders that would lead the nation in a new direction.

For a visitor walking down the aisle at the institute gives him the magnanimous reasons that set S.I.T. quite apart from its peer institutions. To develop young minds in a learning environment of high academic ambience by synergizing spiritual values and technological competence is the vision of the institute which forms the core of principles at SIT. Carrying forward the ignited torch of its visionary mentor Dr. Sree Sree Sivakumara Swamiji; Dr. M.N. SIT today has its own Advisory Board that consists of Experts from Industry and Academia who provide valuable inputs to evolve the curriculum keeping in mind the present trends in Industry. Adding to this is the Remarkable list of MOUs with 50 industries like TCS, Infosys, Wipro, SCII, ABB-GISL; that holds testimony towards the dedication the institute upholds in producing market ready graduates with industrial and practical training in the relevant areas.

Embarking on an eventful journey since its inception, SIT has gathered the expertise of well-qualified, experienced and devoted faculty in its quest to provide a new breed of engineers. The well placed alumni credit the faculty for all their hard work that has carved a niche in the institute's reputation in the world of today."Our faculty members consider research as an integral part of teaching and they are actively working on research projects with a total funding of Rs. 4.25 Crores," says Dr. Shivakumaraiah, The Principal of the Institution. 16 Departments of the institute are recognized as Research Centers by the Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belgaum. The undaunted research work carried out by the faculty provides the right ambience for students to take up innovative and creative projects that widen the knowledge of the students to face the world and the industry.

Expertise from the Experts

Seeing is believing and making students visualize the industry through their words are the experts from industry who give lectures at institution. A renowned aspect in providing industry exposure at Siddaganga Institute of Technology is palpable by the lectures delivered by Industry experts. Another unique practice followed by the college for providing exposure to faculty on latest industry trends and cutting edge technologies is the system of organizing week long in-house faculty workshops at the end of each semester. Topics pertaining to the industry are chosen by the faculty for which experts are invited from Industry and academia of repute to deliver the lectures on the selected topics during the workshop. By these methods of industry exposure to the faculty and students, the institute is achieving a good track record of placements.

From Pre to Post Placement

Siddaganga Institute of Technology also spreads its roots into wider domains in placements which are facilitated by the pre placement trainingprograms regularly organized for students of various semesters in the campus. The zeal driven Department of Training & Placement shows its concern for its students by organizing placement related training programmes like Communicative English, Feel Employable Programme, Soft Skills, and Aptitude Related Analytical Skills. To all actions of industry insights at Siddaganga Institute of Technology, the institute has witnessed an equally rewarding result in the dynamic placements it has achieved. The Incubation of Ideas

There are quite a few students who aspire to be independent by starting something of their own to contribute to the economy of the country. For such entrepreneurial individuals Siddaganga Institute of Technology has established Incubation Center which caters to the entrepreneurial ideas of its students. To encourage Entrepreneurship and Innovation, the centre incubates up to 10 projects each year where each project is executed by a team of entrepreneurs and receives a funding of up to Rs. 3 lakhs. The program caters to the projects that solve problems and find solutions to local needs.

The pursuit to meet the present day requirements of industry has been the agenda on which Siddaganga Institute of Technology has set out on a journey since its inception. A testimonial illustration to the support provided for its students is its vast alumni base that consists of more than 33000 working professionals in India and overseas. Dr. M.N. Channabasappa

He is the Director of Siddaganga Institute of Technology, Tumkur. He has done extensive research in Applied Mathematics – Fluid Dynamics and Vedic Mathematics. He has worked for one semester on a joint research project with Prof. R. Friedrich at the Technical University of Munich, Germany under re-invitation programme of DAAD (1984). He has over 60 years of rich experience in teaching Mathematics subjects for B.E., M.Tech and M.Sc courses. Published more than 20 research papers in National & Intl. & in the proceedings of intl. conferences (Seattle, USA, Zurich, Switzerland and Beijing, China)
