The university degree programs are compliant with the Bologna system and comprise Bachelor and Specialist programs with 4 and 5-year periods of study, Master programs of 2 years along with PhD program of 3 years. Every year, spbu offers about 560 degree programs and over 500 non-degree programs available in physics, mathematics and computer sciences, natural sciences' and medicine, economics and management, earth sciences, social sciences and humanities and art and culture. Even though the language of instruction is Russian, SPbU offers Master programs in English, French, German, Spanish and Italian. The non-degree programs cover various areas of study and the most popular non-degree courses for international students are the Russian language courses at the Russian Language and Culture Institute. Student Exchange program (SEP) is available for students from SPbU partner universities who intend to spend 1 or 2 semesters and is open for both undergraduate and graduate students, and also for postgraduate students who would like to attend lectures and seminars.
