Robust Educational System

Medical education in the USA entails years of formal training and multiple standardized examinations. The country has a robust educational system, with hundreds of medical schools and thousands of graduate medical education programs. Acknowledging its position as one of the most preferred destinations for the pursuit of study of medicine, we have come up with this special issue. The cover story of this issue features the University of Pittsburgh. One of the top-ranked institutes in Pennsylvania, and a member of the Association of American Universities, composed of leading US research universities, the University of Pittsburgh is recognized as one of the most innovative universities in the world. The University Of Pittsburgh School Of Medicine provides world-class research and teaching, and is involved in transforming graduate education in the US.
It offers multiple graduate programs (courses of study) at both the PhD and MS levels. The college has 16 graduate programs (11 PhD and 5 MS programs). These programs train students in a variety of disciplines in biomedical science, and set them up for a wide range of careers. The issue also contains a story on Saint James School of Medicine. Since its inception in 1999, the college has served the singular purpose of providing medical education at affordable prices, and even now, the cost to get a medical degree from the college is less than 100 thousand dollars. In fact, it is one of the few accredited medical schools in the Caribbean whose total cost is less than US$ 100,000.
