In recent years, there have been considerable advancements in higher education in Bangladesh, with more focus now being placed on the sector's growth. Bangladesh's Gross Enrollment Ratio (GER) in tertiary education was 16.6% in 2019, up from just 7.3% in 2009, according to the UNESCO Institute for Statistics. This strong increase shows that more young people in Bangladesh are having access to possibilities for higher education. Bangladesh has the potential to become a leader in the area for higher education with ongoing investment in the educational system and a focus on enhancing the caliber of instruction and resources accessible to students.
In this special issue, we have focused on the higher education landscape in Bangladesh. This issue features Bangladesh University of Health Sciences (BUHS). Bangladesh University of Health Sciences (BUHS) is one pioneering educational institution/university that prioritizes on being a catalyst of positive change in the healthcare education space. The institute was established as the first private university in health sciences education in 2012 by the Bangladesh Diabetic Somity, the second largest health care provider of the country considering the scarcity of human resources in the basic health technology, public health and allied health science sectors.
After scrutinizing the top colleges in Bangladesh, Higher Education Review has selected the top performers who have showcased exceptional academic expertise.
