For every progress in every field all round the world, there is involvement of a vast number of personnel associated with it. Amongst them, by even little means there is involvement of the Engineers who relentlessly work in putting up a spectacle that the whole world sees. To aggravate the rise of these professionals is an initiative at Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College. The institution was established in 1994. After utmost dedicated service of 13 years, it attained the autonomous stature in 2007. It has been serving the society for 20 years and is still heading strong.

Having a student intake with cut off marks of 195 and above, the institution puts the autonomy stature toward updation of curriculum and revival of teaching methods that go hand in hand with the fluctuations of the industry. With broad curriculum and faculty being the major strength of Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College, the institution adds electives to introduce concepts of inter-disciplinary lectures on basis of the feedbacks of the industry as a major stake-holder. The independent curriculum is designed by the Board of Studies for every program including Bachelors or Masters. It consists of nominated members of the institution, members of industry and research and development establishment members from CSIR, IIT and Indian Institute of Science and the senior alumni. The curriculum once designed undergoes various tests and speculations by the other boards and redesigned as per the needs and trends of the current industry. It also includes industry immersion training for the faculty where they camp in the industry and learn by seeing the best practices and pass it on to the students. The institution has members of Intel in the board of electronic and communication engineering that actively engage in curriculum design and modifications.

Dr. Alamelu, Principal, Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College; when asked about the IT content says; "IT is only a tool for any engineering application. Curriculum includes minimal computer knowledge given to all students irrespective of the branch of studies." The inter-disciplinary lectures offered at SREC help in successful planning on a student's overall development. The institution offers flexibility for students in order to have an integrated holistic approach with an objective to find solution to a problem.

Problem solving techniques are developed and holistically encouraged through the research offered at the institution.
