OHM Professional School: Cultivating Global Professional Leaders With International Standards And Efficient Management Skills
Professor Dr. Werner Fees, Academic Head MBA, Business Background, OHM Professional School
The college education is often limited in the boundaries of examinations and good grades, almost wholly ignoring the importance of orienting students towards a successful career path. Though a college degree is universally recognized as a pre requisite for a professional career, many employers are looking for skills beyond a college or university degree. During a job application process, the employers are expecting relevant work experience and efficient communication plus leadership skills from an ideal candidate in addition to their academic degree. Dedicated to shaping global professional leaders, OHM Professional School (OPS), an international B-school in Nuremberg, Germany was quick enough to identify this skill gap and designed cutting-edge MBA programmes combining practical training with requirements of the global economy. Professor Dr. Werner Fees, Academic Head MBA for Business Background, OHM Professional School says, "The objective of the OHM Professional School (OPS) is to serve as a partner to both employers and employees in the process of lifelong learning. Our students can pursue studies while continuing to work and it will put great demands on students. The OPS assists its students in mastering this challenge by providing suitable services and a high degree of flexibility. Our priority is preparing students for the global economy."
The OHM management studies started with an international, English-language MBA program which was already launched in 1998. Over the years, the spectrum was enhanced to include certified management training, seminars and other postgraduate degree programs. "We offer the MBA program since 1998, the first one in Germany. Consequently, we have long experience. The emphasis within our programs is on training and continuing education in business administration and the associated specialist fields for professionals. We take care of every single student individually consider his/her special needs. OHM Professional School also provides personal coaching for each student at the beginning and end of their studies to enhance personal development," Professor Dr. Bernd Hummer, Academic Head MBA for Non-Business Background explained. The MBA programs of OHM Professional School are offered in four different tracks, business and non-business background. The English-based courses in both programs can be booked as an intensive or part-time study. Participants in the intensive program have lectures up to 5 days per week whereas participants in the part-time study only have lectures 3 days a week. Therefore, students in the intensive program complete the study in 15 to 18 months and part-time students in 18 to 24 months plus the master thesis. Because 90 percent of the lectures take part in the evening there is no conflict with professional activity.
With the mission to prepare students industry-ready, OHM Professional School's MBA program emphasizes on International Marketing, Applied Leadership & Social Competence, Strategic Management and many other topics along with students individual personality development. While building a broad academic foundation, the OHM Professional School also strives to impart practical expert knowledge by integrating professional methods and trends into applied research as well as a success-oriented approach of learning. In order to achieve these goals, the college has created different platforms that enable and foster a continuous exchange between business representatives, students, teaching staff and former graduates. Professor Dr. Bernd Hummer adds, "We follow 100 percent English medium in the classroom, in group discussions, in administration, and in counseling. We arrange study weeks at Barry University, Miami/USA and at Zhejiang University, Hangzhou/China. Our strong focus is on applied management know-how for immediate use in multinational companies. Vaidehi Rege, an Indian student at OHM Professional School shares, "Doing MBA was my biggest dream. But most of the schools I had considered required academic background in business or a GMAT/GRE score. From a thorough research, I found OHM Professional School, which is one of the largest Management Institute in Bavaria, that accepts non-business background students like me and that made my decision easy. The MBA program at OHM Professional School not only caters to non-business background students, but also gives you a choice to customize your program by either selecting the fast-track or the part-time track. This program also provides you with several opportunities in taking initiatives through group activities, team building exercises, workshops and specialized leadership related courses throughout your MBA."
