This helps them to participate in most of the professional, sports and club related activities on a regular basis and promotes holistic development. A lot of freedom is given to the students to organize and participate in such activities under the support and guidance of faculty and experts. Technical evolutions are also equally taken into consideration. The well-recognized smart campus makes extensive use of ICT in all its operations. All classrooms are equipped with ICT support like intelligent terminals, projection systems, internet access points and Wi-Fi facilities. "We support the electronic library, the virtual laboratories and MOOCs in a big way. All students of professional courses are given laptops by the university with access to a large number of domain specific and general software tools with campus wide connectivity," pinpoints Dr. Sancheti.
In addition to the novelties implemented within the campus, the university gives an equal importance to research as it has an extra potential to plough back in the form of delivering better quality teaching and learning. "We have currently more than 230 students registered for doctoral programs and right from our first convocation and have graduated students with doctoral degrees. We also support QIP like schemes to further the research, the qualifications of our faculty and help them liberally through Professional Development Allowance (PDA) to participate in the research related activities," says Dr. Sancheti. On similar lines, there are several schemes, which are directly meant for students for the foray into the research arena. "Presently, we have more than 50 funded projects with external funding of more than Rs. 5 Crores and to help research, two centres of excellence have been established which are in addition to special facilities like Super Computer, IOT Lab, Device Fabrication Lab and so on," adds Dr. Sancheti.
As the youngest institution of the most prestigious Manipal Group, MUJ follows some of the well-established policies and legacies. The rich legacy and the quality have enabled the university in attracting students from all over the country for various programs. "We now intend to concentrate on imparting further better quality of teaching-learning and to begin with we would like to concentrate on the honours program for all common undergraduate degrees as well as to start inter-disciplinary nature of programs," says Dr. Sancheti.
