With three branches, 180 students and 13 faculty members M. Kumarasami College of Engineering (MKCE) started its journey in 2000. Thereafter, the institute's reputation was built brick by brick from every new initiative put into practice by the management. Now, the MKCE houses over 4000 students and 330 faculty members in its campus and offers seven undergraduate and five postgraduate programs in engineering. "A student needs an overall development to become a skilful professional and a wonderful individual in life. We provide the same opportunities for a student," claims Dr. V. Kavitha, Principal, MKCE.

MKCE achieved autonomous status in the year 2011, and since then the management has been proactive towards the development of the curriculum and improving the overall teaching methodology. The curriculum offered by MKCE reflects a strong emphasis on the importance of practical application of theories. "Despite the autonomy, what makes us unique from other engineering institutes is our teaching methodology wherein we have left no stone unturned to facilitate our students with the best in the current education system," mentions the Dr. Kavitha.

MKCE has strong industry collaborations and has already established laboratories in association with leading organizations such as Intel and Oracle.

MKCE boasts of having industry trained faculty members in the campus, along with senior professors who are working with the institute since its inceptions. While, the senior faculty members guide the newly appointed teachers and help them in becoming one of the best in the teaching fraternity, the institute's transparent administration system facilitate the faculty members to sharpen their talent and expertise. "The level dedication that our faculty members have shown till now is second to none in this domain. We frequently train them on latest teaching methodologies and ensure that they are interacting with industry professional and academicians from other institutes on a regular basis," sates Dr. Kavitha.

The institute has strong industry collaborations and has already established laboratories in association with leading organizations such as Intel and Oracle. As a result, the students receive first-hand experience on the latest industry trends. These collaborations have also opened avenues for students to work on their imagination and bring out innovations. On the flipside, the MKCE gives a lot of importance to the soft skill development of its students. The institute has introduced a one-credit course under the Department of Career Skill Development. The program helps the students to hone the aptitude, logical and verbal skills of students.

Understanding the fact that a degree certificate alone is not enough to get a job in today's competitive world, the MKCE offer a number of value added course for the for the benefit of the students. These courses are conducted after the regular college hours. Therefore, each student leaving MKCE with a Degree will have completed at least two value added courses. "We have Tie Up with Accent the Technologies for conducting the certified courses like Telelogic, C#, .NET, Labview, JAVA, J2EE, J3ME and many more," explains Dr. Kavitha.

With a plan to receive NAAC accreditation for four branches, opening an MBA program and receive ISO certification, MKCE aspires to become a Deemed university within the next five years. "We cannot satisfy students with modern technology and state-of-the-art infrastructure. A committed team of faculty members and the overall development being mandatory for the growth of students now-a-days, we see ourselves providing the best quality education to the students," concludes Dr. Kavitha.
