Imparting Unvarying Knowledge in Agricultural Sector
Since 2010, Kazakh National Agrarian University has been using international standards for project management to begin the process of transformation into a national research university which has also been praised by 13 leading foreign universities’ scientists. In 2015 with the advent of Agrotechnological hub, the university began a new round in the development. Today, as part of the Agrotechnological hub, there are 7 research institutes, 8 innovation centres and 31 research laboratories and a water hub with 14 research laboratories which have been opened jointly with the Asian Development Bank and joint work is also underway to open the Land and Climate Hubs with the Michigan State University (the USA).

The developed scientific infrastructure of Kazakh National Agrarian University creates all conditions which are suitable for obtaining a quality education and performing research. As a part of the Agrotechnological Hub, the university also implements international projects in conjunction with world foreign universities and research centres. Currently, the university scientists have received about 165 intellectual property protection documents along with promising developments of scientists for creating startup projects which have been analyzed and highlighted. The students, undergraduates and doctoral students within the university are already developing their business in the agricultural sector.
In its innovative development, Kazakh National Agrarian University is guided by the experience of the University of Wageningen (Netherlands) which is a leading university in the QS ranking in agricultural sphere. At the intergovernmental level, the university signed an agreement with the University of Eastern Finland on the joint training of Master’s students in educational programs: Green Biotechnology and Food Safety and Forest Engineering.

According to statistics, last year 3,290 students from India studied in Kazakhstan. Also, at the moment, students from China, Afghanistan, Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, South Korea, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Tajikistan, Ukraine and other countries are studying atKazakh National Agrarian University. Most foreign students choose the ‘Veterinary Medicine’ educational program, although other educational programs are just as interesting. An agreement on exclusive partnershiphas been signed between KazNAU and Wageningen University for training of bachelor students in educational programs as ‘Plant Science and Technologies’ and ‘Veterinary and Food Safety and Technology’. This will open recruitment opportunities for upto 50 students for each program who will receive a quality education in English without leaving the country. Such type of training will annually prepare at least 100 students that meet international standards and are in great demand in the labour market and transmit the experience to other universities in the country.
Unlike numerous universities in Kazakhstani universities, special attention is paid to the issues of education amidst the organization of various events with the participation of students. The institute has a range of cultural events which are organized in the hostels where the curators of groups work closely with students. A separate hostel is also reserved for international students where all conditions for a comfortable stay are created. The Department of International Cooperation also has a visa support sector which helps students with visa issues. Once the students arrive at the university, the specialists work with foreign students, hold meetings with them and explain all the details of studying and living on campus.
