"Striving To Make The Students Industry-Ready As Well As To Develop Learners Into Entrepreneurs, Its Engineering College Continuously Helps Students Start Their Own Businesses And Start-Ups When They Complete Their Programs"

Striving to inculcate Entrepreneurial thought process, ITS Engineering College continuously helps them start their own businesses (start-ups) when they complete their programs. "At ITS, we start with finding out whether our students are more interested to work for corporates or they are interested to start their own business. We have six very strong Centres of Excellence (CoE) in our campus where classes and labs are set up with the help of industry leaders. The Centres of Excellence are dedicated and fully functional to bridge the gap between industry and academia. People from the industry are invited for presenting lectures in these CoEs from - Apple iOS, SMC Pneumatics, National Instruments, Rockwell Automation, Software Testing, SYSCOM, Android Apps Development and R Systems. We also have software testing labs, android application development centre, and even IOS testing labs. These centres help bridge the gaps between what the courses offer and what the industry is looking for. These special labs help in equipping the students with the latest skills and technologies that the industry is looking for", highlights Sohil Chadha.

A Pioneer in Creating Not just Engineers but also Doctors

Along with Engineering and Management courses, ITS is also renowned for its dentistry programs- Bachelors in Dental Surgery (BDS) & Masters in Dental Surgery (MDS). "While technical education is becoming essential, with ITS Dental College our vision is to `Inspire learning for healthcare professionals of tomorrow'. Our mission is to foster a higher level of learning and thinking about dentistry among young professionals. We aspire to develop knowledge and attitude in clinical skills and to be in sync with modern technologies and contemporary ways of being impactful in this domain." While the Bachelors course is for five years including a rotatory internship, the Masters course is for three years in all the dental specialties. We have state-of-the- art infrastructure which includes simulation labs where we offer hands-on training to our students on typodont heads. The technology that we use is in sync with the institutions of America and Europe. We are one of the few dental colleges to have CBCT (for 3DX-ray imaging) along with usage of lasers and microscopic dentistry. Contributing to the society, we at ITS, also serve the community by counselling people who are using and abusing tobacco and offering them medical help", briefs Sohil.

"With all their work, ITS engineering college is sure that they can help the vision of the Government of India to increase the number of qualified and capable engineers in the country"

ITS Dental College has a three-tier recruitment process where the faculty selection is done by senior dentists, Head of Departments and Administration. This creates a rigorous recruitment process which ensures selection of highly qualified and experienced faculty. Adding to this Sohil shares, "The institute follows a professional model of teaching which is imparted through smart boards, and then we mix and amalgamate videos and Power Point presentations to make the lectures more interesting and engaging. We also have activities such as Group Discussion, Role Play, MCQs, and many more so that our pedagogies are not monotonous." ITS Dental College also has industrial collaborations which are called `Knowledge Partnership', which are with various national and international universities. The institute also arranges for students and faculty exchange programs. While the campus placement is different as compared to engineering, ITS Dental has various companies recruit bright students from the college, especially dental clinic chains.

Striving to Make Learners Industry-Ready

Coming back to ITS Engineering College, the vision to bridge the gap between courses and the industry requirements, the college trains the students with industry required skills. We are equipped with advanced labs that are set up with a direct partnership with various companies. These labs provide students with special training that are not a part of the regular university syllabus. In addition to this, ITS Engineering College ensures that every student masters one or two technologies in his/her domain along with completion of MOOC or online programs or certifications in those technologies. ITS Engineering College then arranges lectures with experts in that technology and all their minor and major projects, including their internships, are facilitated by the college. So, by the time the placement starts in the college, the students are well-versed in their chosen technologies.

"If any student says that he/she is interested in starting their own business, we have very strong incubation centres in the campus in collaboration with Department of Science and Technology - Support of Rs 2.5 Lakhs and MSME - Supports up to Rs. 15 Lakhs. Once the prototype is ready, the college supports them in getting patents/intellectual property registered. Also, if the student is looking to start the business for a scalable and marketable idea, the college also provides seed funding. The college supports the entire business activity, including space, power, equipment and logistic requirements", says Sohil.

ITS Engineering College has a unique achievement of sending its students and faculty to NASA for participating in the Human Exploration Rover Challenge 2020. This challenge is an annual event at NASA, USA and every year few teams selected from across the world to participate in this competition. NASA selects only 4 to 5 teams from India each year. In this event, a Rover is created by students under the specifications given by NASA and a team of students has to drive this human-powered Rover over various tasks and hurdles. This competition gives a unique opportunity to students for innovation, teamwork and exposes them to international competitions.

While ITS Engineering College vests major focus on skill-based learning, the college also has very elaborate arrangements for co-curricular activities. Very few colleges have the infrastructural facilities that are offered at ITS. The college has Tennis Courts, Basketball Courts, Cricket Ground, Football Ground, Volleyball and Badminton Courts along with separate gyms for boys and girls. The college has activity rooms in the hostel along with dedicated reading rooms. The campus also reflects good infrastructural facilities including the auditorium which has a 750 plus seating capacity, an amphitheatre, different clubs. The college also hosts a lot of sports, cultural, and technical events. The students at ITS Engineering College are also encouraged to participate in outside competitions as well.

Highlighting on the co-curricular activities at ITS Engineering College, Sohil mentions, "We have our own technical fest where we invite students from all over India specially from UP, Punjab, Haryana and Delhi. They come in big numbers and participate very actively in our competitions. The students showcase their innovative ideas, prototypes, and projects. We also have our cultural fests with extensive participation from ITS students as well as from visiting students. Apart from this, the students get plenty of opportunities to participate in a lot of outside events where they have been victorious on numerous occasions."

Aspiring to be 'A College of Choice'

With all their work, ITS Engineering College is sure that they can help the vision of the Government of India to increase the number of qualified and capable engineers in the country. The college is constantly striving to play its part in spreading quality technical education across the country. ITS Engineering College operates on ICP (Individual Career Plan), through which the college is helping its students have a solid career plan. With NAAC and NBA accreditation, the future plan of ITS Engineering College is to ensure that they become a college of choice in the future. "We are working rigorously on the employability of the students and encourage the start-up culture at the campus. The Corporate Research Centre team invites the best companies for placement and we make sure that the students have multiple job offers before passing out from the college. ITS takes a lot of pride in being one of the very few engineering colleges to have an unbeatable record in placements in core branches such as Mechanical & Civil. Some of our recruiters are industry leaders such as TCS, Zycus, Reliance, BYJU's, NIIT, Amazon, HCL, Accenture and many more to boast of. The 2000+ Alumni circle makes it easy for our students to network and explore more career opportunities. Also with the visionary start-up policy, we hope that in the years to come, more and more ITS students will establish their own businesses and be future leaders and entrepreneurs", pens off Sohil Chadha.
