Established in 2014, GIBS Business School, Bangalore is yet to produce any MBA graduates. With students still on the breeding ground, however, the institute has already grabbed the limelight by implementing out-of-the-box teaching methodologies that have the potential to create globally competent professionals and highly innovative entrepreneurs. Leading the process of establishing GIBS as of the favorite place for corporate biggies to hunt their future talent and student to be trained in world-class quality education is Ritesh Goyal, Managing Director of GIBS. A first generation entrepreneur who has just stepped into his 30s, Goyal has already established nine high performing ventures in the field of education, which talks volumes about his insatiable hunger for success and commitment to provide quality services to the society. Hence, Goyal\'s journey to become a leader in the space of education is worth mentioning for young India to follow.
During 2007 09, getting a decent paying job despite having high qualifications was as difficult as getting into IIMs or IITs for a fresh graduate. The world was witnessing what is being called the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression of 1929-30. Goyal, then a freshly minted MBA graduate was among the numerous qualified youngsters who were knocking every possible doors looking for an opportunity to start a career. Though, he managed find a job in a Airhostess training academy that offered him Rs. 10,000 a month, he continuously looked for opportunities where he can showcase his real talent. What happened after six months was the real game changer; Goyal moved to a newly established business school as public relation officer. \"It was a great learning,\" says Goyal, \"However, I felt that the kind of education business schools were providing was not adequate to make students employable and there was a great market opportunity for external training providers to emerge.\" In 2010, Goyal started Pathfinder Edu Solutions in Bangalore to provide corporate training for MBA students. Since then it was a dream run for Goyal. In a short span of five years, with support of his two younger brothers, Ravi Goyal and Pradeep Goyal, he expanded his ventures including a highly promising Business School named GIBS.
\"We are not here to increase the number of B-Schools in the country by adding one more. At GIBS, we do not follow the traditional approach of management education,\" claims Goyal. Indeed, a close look into the GIBS curriculum will evidently justify that Goyal\'s statement is not just a flamboyant one. Recently, the institute launched a comprehensive training program of 400 hours named \'Campus to Corporate (C2C),\' which according to Goyal is not less than a distance MBA program. He says, \"Campus to Corporate is first of its kind among the B-Schools in India. By dedicating one extra hour every day for this particular program, we will provide extensive practical exposure to the students for two years and it will help them to get live learning experience which no other classroom training can offer.\" While, the C2C programs covers the essential skills starting from communication to time management through CEO/HR Talks, Global Business Forum Meets and Workshops, the institute has been running several other add-on programs since its inceptions.
\"Along with MBA, we have integrated many value added program like Project Management Certification, SAP certification, Six Sigma, Diploma in Global Management, Digital Marketing Solutions and so on. We also have different boards consisting of professionals and academicians, who consistently guide us to include necessary programs to bridge university curriculum and latest industrial demands,\" says Goyal. Completing one year of operation, GIBS has created large network of industry professional through establishing Business Forums and advisory boards like Thought Leadership & Experiential Learning (TLEL), Placement Advisory board and Global Advisory. \"We have provided several platforms where our students can frequently interact with industry professionals and successful entrepreneurs. This will definitely motivate our students to work hard and think beyond their text books,\" explains Goyal.
While, GIBS is well-equipped to provide a vibrant environment of interactive and participative learning, Goyal shares his next big idea of management education and concludes, \"From the next academic year onwards, all our students will have a registered company in their name, which will encourage them to take up the route of entrepreneurs in their years to come. Five years down the line, I want the people to look at GIBS as an institution that produces maximum number of entrepreneurs in the country.\"
