When majority of the students reside in college campus, it is important for the institution to provide the best it can for the overall development of its students. This is precisely what the College of Engineering, Pune (CoEP) ensures to provide to the 60 percent of its students residing in the campus along with a quality engineering education. Located at the heart of Pune, the college has a residential campus that makes one feel being at a home away from home.

The institution understands that in order to make the student competent enough to face the challenging world, it is very important that the students are encouraged to open their minds to the knowledge already available all around them. It is equally important to create an academic ambience permitting freedom of expression, while respecting the dignity of each individual and to encourage them to take advantage of all the opportunities created through several activities conducted at the institute. Thus it provides a residential campus with excellent sports and cultural activity facilities along with academic part.

Being one of the oldest engineering colleges in Asia, the college provides the best of state-of-the-art facilities to its students. They are encouraged to learn beyond the boundaries of their stream through mandatory Liberal Learning courses where they choose the areas of their interest, define the scope, study available materials, synthesize their viewpoint and share that with appropriate audience and peers. The college has a Gymkhana audit course where all the sports, cultural and extra-curricular activities are coordinated. It co-ordinates with various teams to organize fests, competitions and annual functions like NSS, NCC, Yoga, Sports and Boat club. The institute also conducts events like Regatta, Zest and MindSpark which is the annual technical festival of the college organized by the students. Activities such as these allow students to build their confidence, improve communication skills and engage in team work.

Creating a Vibrant Environment

College life spent in the campus is arguably the most unforgettable experience for any individual. The reason behind this is the amorphous yet extremely crucial blend of work and play that occurs within the walls of the institution. A campus needs to be flexible enough to provide that room for its students.

CoEP uses recreation as a tool to relieve stress after long hours of study and the management institute in Pune offers its campus to its students for sports and cultural activities. Students can play various sports like volleyball, basketball, lawn tennis, cricket, football, hockey and kabaddi. Almost all the games have coaches assigned to them. There are also adequate facilities available for the indoor games like badminton, table tennis, carom and chess. They also have two well equipped A.C. auditoriums where major programs and lectures by eminent speakers are conducted. Wi-Fi and LAN connections are provided throughout the campus for better connectivity and research.

The institute also allows all of its students to participate in out-of-the-classroom activities such as business communication, personal development, and communication skill development. At the college, each and every student has to join at least one of the 32 clubs and groups where they regularly participate in order to develop their personality and explore their hidden talent and potential. They are also encouraged to work with an NGO organized by their student/alumni based ‘Spandan’ NGO. The institute encourages cultural pursuits and intercollegiate competitions like Purushottam Karandak(drama competition), Firodiya Karandak (all talent showcase), Sakal Karandak, Tech Fest, Mood Indigo, Street Plays, Mad adds, dance & singing competitions. The SPICMACAY group at CoEP regularly organizes musical concerts and invite renowned artist. The history club, art and craft team and cultural team bring out various activities and help the students develop their abilities.

Building a Safety Net around the Campus

While the institute provides the best opportunities for a professional and personal growth of the students, CoEP ensures that there is no room left for loop holes in safety. Security has always been on the top priority list for the institute. There are security guards stationed within the campus at all times and there are armed guards assigned to each hostel after dark along with CCTV camera surveillance. The students are given RIFD based identity cards that they are supposed to carry with them at all times. Emergency drills and other safety measures are self defense classes available by the institute to ensure the wellbeing of its students.

With its wide range of activities clubbed with recreational sports and cultural pursuits, College of Engineering, Pune chartered in 1854 provides its students with a campus that is well suited for the all round development in a safe and secure environment conducive for the growth of an individual in every aspect.
