The institute\'s indulgence in industry relevant curricula does not end here, the MBA program at New Horizon also exposes the students to Capsim business simulation, SaaS training, NSE stock exchange, compliance management, digital marketing aside from the annual global tour to China and Sri Lanka.
Highly Productive Placement Cell
To support students in gaining a well-deserved place in the corporate community, New Horizon College of Engineering has an active placement cell, which is headed by the very experienced Prof. Lakshmi Narayan, Director of Training and Placement. The cell has developed a well-structured training program for MBA students. As the institute hosts students from various parts of the country, the training programs begin with six months long communication training. Followed by this, in the next six months students can hone their aptitude skills, which is a requirement while attending massive placement drives. In the beginning of second year of the course, the institute trains the students in their attitude and behavior, which is followed by series of lectures from industry professionals in the final semester. With all of these efforts, the institute ensures that, the students are well prepared and confident enough to attend the final placement drives. As a result, New Horizon College has achieved the golden mark of 100 percent placement for their management program, with an average package of six lakhs per annum.
However, the institute puts a lot of emphasis on nurturing the entrepreneurial spirit of their students, which is the need of the hour in the country. \"We are here to make employers rather than employees,\" says Dr. Sheelan Misra. As the city Bangalore is a high fertile land for young entrepreneurs and the job of New Horizon is cultivating healthy weeds for this land. The institute provides many add-ons, which help the students in identifying their entrepreneurial abilities. Regular workshops on entrepreneurship and its market scopes are conducted, through these workshops, students can learn how to identify the market scope of a particular idea that they have in mind. Identifying market scope is an important aspect, as there are many examples of young entrepreneurs shutting down their ventures due to lack opportunities and response from the market.
The entrepreneurship trainings are not only for students. They train the faculties in this segment as well, so that the faculties can impart the concept of entrepreneurship in the classroom while teaching the regular mode of curriculum. With this effort, students are getting trained mentors, who can assist them in developing their innovative ideas. The institute also connects students with the major investors in town to convert the ideas of students into practice. \"Many of our students have started their own companies. They regularly visit the campus and many of them have recruited a good number of students from the campus also,\" says Lakshmi Narayan.
With adequate infrastructure to support holistic development of a student, New Horizon College of Engineering has been running the management program since 2004. In their 10 years of existence, the institute has achieved many milestones. \"We are looking forward to provide more flexible curriculum for the students by offering value added programs beyond the university curriculum and also to strengthen our existing program,\" concludes Dr. Sheelan Misra. While there are many more milestones to be crossed, New Horizon College is dream place for people across the country to chase their managerial aspirations.
