Best Institutes with Excellent Faculty, 2015
The individual achievements of faculty members are paramount to a universitys success, but the work that they do as members of the institution is equally vital in creating the benefits that higher education brings to our society as communities of learning. Numerous studies have shown that faculty members that engage students in experiences, challenge students academically, and engage in enriching educational experiences have been found to report higher levels of engagement and learning at institutions. Compounding the challenge for institutions, the rate of growth of students, academic performance, and placement figures of an institution are directly proportional to the experience and expertise of an institutes faculty. As it is the members of the teaching staff that initiate the knowledge transfer, it is important for institutions to ensure that they are able to identify the key traits and practices required to build and retain industrious professors across disciplines.
The Faculty Special of Higher Education Review was designed in the spirit of identifying institutions where faculty uphold the values of the institutional mission, strive to improve existing teaching methodologies, and explore the boundaries of research to facilitate higher order learning for their students. The list enumerates 25 Engineering institutions and 25 Business Schools across the country that has faculty members striving to push the boundaries of teaching, research and learning. We have ranked Engineering Colleges and B-Schools by combining the scores of a perceptual survey with the addition of a factual survey, which is based on the data inputs provided by the institutes. While our expert panel consisting of top HR Managers, Dignified Educationalists and the Editorial Team analyzed and verified the data to list out 80 percent of the factual survey, the remaining calculations were done by analyzing the perceptual survey. We strongly believe that it is important to bring names of such institutions to the limelight, so that, their ideologies and methodologies can inspire other institutions in the country to drive them on a better path and help India become a nation of brilliance.
