Already, the entire Entertainment & Media industry is witnessing huge growth with the size expected to reach Rs. 1, 96, 400 crores approximately by 2019. Apeejay Institute of Mass Communication (AIMC) was set up in 2003 to cater to this growing demand for trained manpower.

Currently, the Institute offers full time 1 year Post Graduate Diploma Programmes in: Advertising & Marketing Communication, Corporate Communication & Event Management, Television & Radio Journalism/ Production and Digital Media & Online Journalism. These programmes are conducted by a highly specialized and experienced team of professionals & practitioners from the industry and the academia. This gives AIMC a unique distinction of blending the curricula of a media institute with that of a film school & a journalism institute. These skill-oriented courses empower students to confront the competitive world.

The Post Graduate Diploma pass out students of AIMC are eligible for direct admission into the 2nd year of MA Journalism & Mass Communication in the UGC recognised, Apeejay Stya University, Sohna, Gurgaon. Regular student and faculty interaction with noted professionals from the corporate world is helping us in grooming our students to meet the current market demand. Entering the 14th academic session of this Institute, having a strong network of alumni, its ambassadors who personally come to share their experiences of the media Industry are a testimony to the Institute's focus on quest for excellence.

Realizing the fact that Journalism and Mass Communication, unlike any other traditional courses require a lot of practical training along with theory classes, all the subjects are accompanied by an extra session such as TV studio time, research projects & case studies and hands-on sessions in the Advertising lab. The faculty of the Institution guides and helps the students find out which media they want to work with and accordingly the students are sent for internships. The faculties of the Institution are highly skilled and experienced team of professionals & practitioners from the industry and the academia. Through their expertise they are able to help the students choose their career wisely.

Internships are arranged by the establishment due to their good relationship with the industry and their reputation as an excellent media institution. Not only the internships but the institution has also achieved excellent placement results year after year. The national and international placements are a direct result of the Institute's determination of providing the education that is appropriate and very much relevant for the media students. The curriculum of the Institution is created after careful inspection of industry and academic trends by the Advisory Board in place with the help of the Board of Studies. The curriculum is revised regularly on the basis of the industry and academic trends.

Prof. Ashok Ogra, Director

Ashok Ogra is a noted management & media professional and educator with over 35 years of work experience across media platforms including Radio, Television and Print. Ogra was senior member of the start-up team that launched Discovery Channel in 1995 and Animal Planet in 1998 in South Asia where he worked as Vice-President. He has also served as a Jury Member of the prestigious Indian National Film Awards, and is a regular invitee at both national and international forums. He also taught at the reputed Film & TV Institute, Pune. Ogra has served on the 'Executive Council' of the Central University of Jammu and on the 'Board of Studies' of reputed Central/ State Govt./ Private Universities including MCRC of Jamia Milia Islamia University, The Business School of Jammu University, Rajasthan University, etc. He is also a member of the expert panel of Doordarshan & All India Radio. He is a member of the Indian advisory group of the UKIERI (UK) funded project to support Research and Innovation in Media Institutions in India & UK.
