Aditya Group of Engineering Colleges: Creating 'T - Shaped' Professionals

HER Team
Emerging skill gap indicates that there is a shift in the type of young professionals who will be needed to successfully lead organizations in the new economy. If a straightforward set of technical skills was almost all it took to have a successful and stable career in the past, today's employers have different expectations for these positions they are looking for engineers with 'T Shaped' skills. Who is a 'T-Shaped' professional? The answer is simple - the stem of the 'T' indicates depth of knowledge in a discipline of engineering and the horizontal bar of the 'T' indicates the breadth of knowledge in areas such as business, management and communication.

"The industry is now looking for the students who not only have the technical skills, but also have the qualities like creativity, innovative ideas and accept the challenges, so that they can avoid incurring the huge cost and time to train the newly selected employees. We have introduced 'T-Shaped - Engineering Program' where we provide the above qualities to the students and build the technology specialists like Java Developers, Mobile App Developers, Cloud and many more, during the course of study," Says N Satish Reddy, Vice Chairman, Aditya Educational Institutions. The 'T-Shaped - Engineering Program' of Aditya Group of Engineering Colleges is designed, developed and managed by IT experts who worked in IBM and WIPRO for more than 10 years.

"This is an integrated program with the academics of four years of engineering. The program will invite the experienced and qualified industrial persons from CMM level 5 software industries to offer the special training to the students to fulfil the immediate needs of the employers," says Reddy. In this cutthroat competitive world, it is difficult for a student to get a job once he/she goes out of the college campus. Keeping this in view, an exclusive CRT team of 10 faculty members works in the thrust areas like Reasoning, Aptitude, Soft skills, Technical Skills and more, which are not a part of the curriculum. The primary motto of this programme is to find a right job at the right time - before the course completion to every student.

Aditya Group of Engineering Colleges has entered MoUs with Co-Cubes and AMCAT as its CRT assessment partners. They assess students' capabilities in Analytical Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude and Soft Skills to face the campus recruitments confidently. "A student goes almost 50 assessments in 7 semesters followed by two typical pre-assessments. With these periodical assessments and guidance by the assessment partners, a student can gain natural confidence to face the campus drives. The assessment paves way to the right job at the right time," explains Reddy.

At Aditya Group of Engineering Colleges, it is a culture to develop students towards industry acceptance. As such, there is a constant rise in the number of companies visiting the campus and conducting campus recruitment every year. The institute's 2016-17 batch of students have already received over 445 offers and the number is still counting. Some of the major recruiters are Samsung, Osmosys, Think and Learn, GGK Tech, Salesify, Capgemini, Divami, JMC Projects, Technovert, CGI, AD3I, Myoung Shin India and many more.

Aditya Group of Engineering Colleges is also encouraging entrepreneurship through Aditya Global Incubation Centre (GBI). The Department of Science and Technology under Technology Development Board has sanctioned Rs.100 lakhs per annum for development of the incubation centre at Aditya Engineering College for a period of 5 years. "Ours is the only engineering college in Andhra Pradesh that received the financial assistance by Dept. of Science and Technology. Now, we have many successful students' start-ups on the campus and getmytailor.com, getmybooks.com, hirepuppy.com are few to name among them," shares Reddy.

Today, with an intend to become deemed university that can impart education at par with the global standards, Aditya Group of Engineering Colleges has collaborated with the foreign universities like University of IOWA, USA, International Technological University, USA, Swansea Metropolitan, UK and Thomson Reverse University, Canada. "Here, we are on a mission to achieve academic excellence by providing globally acceptable technical education by forecasting technology through Innovative research and development, industry institute interaction and empowered manpower, concludes Reddy.
