Tata Group is planning to create 500,000 manufacturing jobs over the next five years across sectors such as semiconductors, electric vehicles (EVs), batteries, and related industries, according to a statement from Chairman N. Chandrasekaran. Speaking at an Indian Foundation for Quality Management symposium, he stressed that the creation of manufacturing jobs is crucial to achieving India's vision of becoming a developed nation, referred to as "Viksit Bharat".

Chandrasekaran emphasized that manufacturing is essential given the large number of people entering the workforce. Tata Group's investments in semiconductor plants, EV manufacturing, and battery production units—including a new semiconductor plant in Assam—are expected to drive this large-scale job creation. He also pointed out that manufacturing has a multiplier effect, indirectly creating numerous small and medium-sized companies within the ecosystem.

He reiterated the importance of government support for such initiatives and highlighted that modern manufacturing, particularly in sectors like semiconductors, often generates multiple indirect jobs for each direct job. Chandrasekaran noted that for India to meet its employment needs, the country must aim to create 100 million jobs.
