Semiconductor Sector En Route to Creating 500,000 Jobs
India is on track to become a leading semiconductor manufacturing hub, with the industry expected to create 1 million jobs across various sectors by 2026, according to a report released on Monday. These job opportunities will span a variety of roles, including 300,000 positions in chip fabrication, 200,000 jobs in ATMP (Assembly, Testing, Marking, and Packaging), and numerous other positions in chip design, software development, system circuits, and manufacturing supply chain management, the report from NLB Services, a talent solutions firm, revealed.
The report also highlights the growing need for a skilled workforce, with demand expected for engineers, operators, technicians, and specialists in quality control, procurement, and materials engineering. It underscores India's commitment to building a robust semiconductor talent pipeline by 2026.
The Indian government is actively supporting the semiconductor sector, and several private companies have announced plans to invest in the construction of new semiconductor assembly and testing facilities in India. This surge in investment is set to spark a major transformation in the country’s semiconductor industry, generating a wide range of high-tech and construction jobs.
Key roles in the semiconductor industry include Process Integration Engineer, Semiconductor Wafer Inspector, Technical Specialist, Preventive Maintenance Technician, Design Engineer, Process Engineer, and Quality Control Specialist, among others.
