EaseMyTrip to Employ 500 Interns to Endorse Government's Internship Scheme

Travel booking platform EaseMyTrip has announced plans to hire over 500 interns across India within the next 3-6 months to support the government's proposed internship scheme, as revealed by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in the Union Budget for 2024-25. This initiative aims to provide job opportunities to the youth, aligning with the government's goal of offering internships to 1 crore youth in 500 top companies over five years.

EaseMyTrip's CEO, Nishant Pitti, stated that the paid internships will be available across various departments, with a focus on sales, marketing, and back-end customer care. Each intern will receive a monthly allowance of Rs 5,000, along with a one-time assistance of Rs 6,000. The company will cover the cost of training these interns as part of its corporate social responsibility efforts.

Pitti emphasized that the company's recent expansion, including the opening of a new office in Gurugram, has made it feasible to hire a large number of interns and financially manageable with the government's new scheme. He also noted that the company, which currently has around 900 employees, has the capacity to absorb many of the interns into permanent positions post their internship period.

EaseMyTrip is recognized as one of the few profitable companies in the business-to-consumer (B2C) e-commerce sector, having posted profits consistently since its inception 16 years ago. This robust financial performance further supports its ability to participate in the internship scheme and offer meaningful career opportunities to young professionals.
