Andhra Chief Minister invites IIT-M students to set up startups in Amaravati
Mr. Naidu, who spoke at the All India Research Scholars’ Summit-2025 organized at IIT-M here on Friday, said, “Any student who wants to test his or her startup, knowledge, or ideas can come to Andhra Pradesh. I am here to host you. And we will give you proof of concept, and you can go anywhere and do your business.”
The Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh N. Chandrababu Naidu said that his state will welcome students from IIT-Madras who want to test their startups, knowledge or ideas. In recounting the history of the Indian economy since Independence, and looking backward to the state before the economic and financial reforms, Mr. Naidu noted that he had represented this point of view to a succession of Prime Ministers, which resulted in the prime minister immediately deregulating telecommunications, which became an absolute game changer.
The Chief Minister said his government was building a ‘Quantum Valley’ in Amaravati. “We are starting with the support of IIT-Madras a ‘Quantum Valley’ from Amaravati. I am talking about Artificial Intelligence (AI). I am saying every family must use AI. Every individual must use AI,” Mr. Naidu said.
By then, Mr. Naidu noted, China had already rolled out a mobile telephony service. Mr. Naidu emphasized the brilliance of establishing IITs in India in the post Independence period. IITs had produced about one lakh IITians and 30,000 doctors who went abroad to find jobs. They produced global footprints of knowledge even if it was a brain drain for India.
Referring to the global operations by Indian IT companies abroad and foreign companies setting up operations in India, Mr. Naidu said, “The British took everything, but left English. Traditionally, we are very strong in mathematics and science, and with English we are doing extremely well in all walks of life.”
India’s success with digital technology by way of Aadhaar and digital currency was unique, he said. “No other country has authentication like Aadhaar. India has the biggest digital footprint in digital currency,” he added.
