University of the Potomac has been able to adapt to the changing infrastructure in accordance with the changing trends of the industry. Potomac offers various industry relevant programs that are helping students understand the practicality of the industry from a professional perspective.
University of the Potomac is a private university that was founded in 1991. It was initially called Potomac College where it offered undergraduate degrees. In 2012 Potomac added the Master's program and became University of Potomac. In 2019, the university added a doctoral program for applied studies in business administration, education and computer science. The doctoral program has attracted some outstanding students from around the world and graduated its first class in June 2022.
As the needs of our community grow, so has the University. One of Potomac's strengths is its adaptability. The ability to meet the changing industry demands through instructional enhancements and resource adaptation is second to none. University of the Potomac, and before then Potomac College, has always focused on preparing students for careers and career advancement. The skills that Potomac students learn in the classroom today, are ready to apply in industry as well. The Learning Resource Center (LRC) at the University is something to be proud of; students from anywhere in the world can go to the online LRC and find the resources they need to complete their assignments, conduct research, or publish their own materials.
Dr. Muhammad Abdulrahman is the Director of the LRC and offers substantial training to students and professors in how to get the most out of the LRC library. "œThe LRC, Academics, Students Services, and all of the departments are essential in their focus to support students as they pursue their academic dreams. Our systems are designed to be user friendly so that students need only to focus on the learning and not so much on how to learn ", states Dr. Smith.
Another very important department at the University is Career Services. As the title implies, Career Services is designed to assist students with navigating the job market. In the career development workshops, students learning how to build a powerful resume and position themselves to be a strong candidate in every way. It's all about helping the students build a strong human portfolio and acquiring the job!
We are quite proud of the work and of the activities taking place at University of the Potomac. Yet, we have much more to do and there is much more to come at all learning levels including bachelor's, master's, and doctorate studies. "œAt the doctorate level, we are preparing future applied scientists in computer science, education and business; yet, the University has no plans to stop growing, improving, and learning in order to meet the needs of industry by developing industry ready graduates", concludes Dr. Smith.
