By Dr. Suresh Dwivedi, Director
Comprising two-thirds of the health workforce in India, nurses play a crucial role in health care delivery in terms of promotion, prevention, treatment, care and rehabilitation. Nursing education in India has been witnessing several successes, changes, and challenges recently, especially after the pandemic. Emerging as a phenomenal platform that caters to the current needs of nursing education across the country, Tamanna School of Nursing and Paramedical College is functioning with a mission of changing the face of the health care industry by producing the best paramedical professionals for the country.

Established in 2002 to improve nursing education in north India, Tamanna School of Nursing and Paramedical College is recognized by Uttar Pradesh State Medical Faculty and Indian Nursing Council, New Delhi for its courses like Diploma Physiotherapy, Diploma Optometry, Female Health Workers, and Diploma General Nursing and Midwifery.

The curriculum adopted by Tamanna School of Nursing and Paramedical College is prescribed by Indian Nursing Council. Apart from a fully equipped hospital, with all facilities Like - O.T, I.C.U, N.I.C.U, Emergency etc, the institute also has affiliations with other associated hospitals and different Govt. Hospitals of Allahabad, where students can get the best industry exposure. At the same time, the college also ensures that the teachers come well prepared to the classrooms. "All teachers are supposed to attend the library consisting of laptops, computers, 5000 Books, as well as Indian and international journals. Specific hours in the library are defined for each faculty member.

Feeling accountable to give the best to the society, we have made discipline and attendance to be our benchmark", shares Dr. Najmi Rahman, Director, Tamanna School of Nursing and Paramedical College. She further adds, "Equipped with digital boards, overhead projectors, smart classrooms, and Wi-Fi enabled campus, teachers use models and audio-visual methods for teaching so that knowledge can be taken from any part of the world. We try to build the overall personality of the students by providing personality development and English classes along with computer classes every year. We have a placement cell that is quite conscious about students even after they leave the Institution and maintains the record of each student. Our students go for Clinical Posting in various government and private hospitals of the city".

Promoting Women Empowerment

Tamanna School of Nursing and Paramedical College is envisioned to promote women's empowerment by providing the best possible nursing education to the female nurses and paramedical professionals at their budding stage. "There is a lot of discrimination in the education sector in our county. Here, boys not only get a lot of opportunities than the girls but are also encouraged more by their parents to have a prolific career.

Since the nursing education sector holds a good reputation for girls, many successful women students have opted to pursue their careers in this domain. Understanding the socio-economic scenario of our country, where girls lack behind men in jobs and education, the endeavour of Tamanna School of Nursing and Paramedical College is to provide a platform for girls where they can learn and get more confident to face the world", states Dr. Suresh Dwivedi, Director, Tamanna School of Nursing and Paramedical College.

Giving Best Education To The Students

Apart from debate competitions, story writing competitions, poster competitions, and various outdoor activities like cricket, athletics, badminton, and more, Tamanna School of Nursing and Paramedical College organize the All India conference every year, in which students of various paramedical and nursing colleges participate.

The institution also regularly organizes outdoor medical camps and village surveys that empower the students to get acquainted with the healthcare industry standards. Programs and workshops like the Contact Lens workshop and Yoga workshop are also arranged every year by the institution. Tamanna School of Nursing and Paramedical College participated in the conference organized by Kamla Nehru Hospital where it acquired the second position and reaped the first position in the Inter Paramedical Debate Competition.

"In Tamanna School of Nursing and Paramedical College, our main focus is on giving the best education to the students, simultaneously ensuring discipline and 90 percent attendance of students which we monitor seriously. With the help of digital boards in our smart classes, it becomes easier for the student to understand the subjects. Here we have a modern fundamental skill lab, nutrition lab, and other labs, that encourage the students to learn and get trained easily. We are well aware of the future lifestyle diseases and COVID-like situations that the hospitals and the medical world are going to face in the near future. Hence, we are training our students in such a manner that they do not face any challenges. We are also focusing on digitalization and keeping the students well aware of that", concludes Dr. Suresh Dwivedi.
