Stanley College of Engineering and Technology for Women: Nurturing Students Into Inspired Learners Of Tomorrow

At a time when higher education is becoming more and more of a business rather than a service, one educational institution that has been operating to offer class leading education for the holistic development of their students is Stanley College of Engineering and Technology for Women. The institute operates with a vision to "˜Empower Women, Impact the World'. The Stanley College is driven by the mission to provide quality professional education for girl students to make them competent and confident to succeed in professional practice and advanced learning. In order to achieve their mission, Stanley has established state-of-art facilities and resources to facilitate world-class education and the Stanley experience has integrated qualities like humanities, social values, ethics and leadership in order to encourage contribution to society. More importantly, the institute strives to eliminate the various barriers that prevent young women from getting a quality education that they deserve, and aims to give each and every one of its students a fulfilling career that is based on a rock-solid foundation of thorough academic training and humanistic principles.
Stanley is a NBA and NAAc Accredited Institution and keeping in mind the trend of emerging courses, the Institution has also applied to the UGC for Autonomous Status. The same will enable Stanley to offer certification courses and design the curriculum vis-a-vis the needs of the industry. At Stanley, the modern digital library has opened up new vistas for students, enabling them to actively follow the latest research while also finding access to the best study material online through common membership at the institute. Excellence at academics is juxtaposed with co-curricular and extra-curricular activities, directing the holistic development of Stanley College's young girls. The college has different individual departments including Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, Computer Engineering (CME), Computer Science and Engineering, Humanities and Sciences, and Master of Business Administration among many others. Additionally, various certificate courses are conducted by departments and student professional bodies to enhance the academic flexibility. All the programs imparted by the institution have migrated to CBCS system in the academic year 2016-17. This gives the students an opportunity for different types of electives and enhances the learning experience keeping it in line with the expectation of the industry. Stanley has also entered into MoU's with IITs to introduce their online courses to the students like NPTEL and Spoken Tutorials. Further, the student to teacher ratio is good and the quality of teachers and their experience is continuously monitored.
Adding more about the faculty at Stanley, says, "œOut of a total of our 140 faculty members, 26 professors are doctorates and 20 others are pursuing their PhD. Almost 160 high quality research papers have been published in academic research journals of national and international repute by the staff, with active research projects being executed in parallel with regular classes. Around 14 staff members have also been accredited with the unique certification by the NPTEL (National Program on Technology Enhanced Learning). The staff ensures that there is constant honing of teaching skills and research know-how through attending workshops and seminars, and our staff has attended more than 400 such training programs/ workshops".
The R&D wing at Stanley has an ecosystem for students and staff to learn, innovate and experiment the ideas in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. The institute's R&D wing offer strong hands-on support for the students to think out-of-the-box and explore real-time problems and solutions. The research centres established under the Dept of Computer Science Engineering and the Dept of Electronics Communication Engineering have been recognized by Osmania University wherein the senior faculty members at Stanley are recognized to guide the research scholars under the University.
The R&D wing also ignites entrepreneurial ecosystem in the campus under the Institution's Innovation Cell under the aegis of Ministry of Human Resource Development. Stanley has recognized the importance of having incubation centre keeping in line with the Make in India and Made in India policy as part of the nation building process. An incubation centre has been set up at Stanley where the students are given ample opportunity to explore the implementations of their ideas with regular interaction with external agencies like, MSME, NSIC, and ALEAP to name a few.
Recognizing that the students are the most important stakeholders in the institute, at Stanley, the students are involved as stakeholder in administering the institute by making them members of several committee that oversee and organize various activities. This ensures the effective participation, good feedback and flow of information to all students regarding all initiatives undertaken by the institute. The institution also has tie up with an online student's magazine Stumagz where students are encouraged to write articles about social issues and human values. Also, evolving with the changing times, Stanley is aiming to continue improving on a consistent basis and equip their students with the needed skills required to thrive in the modern world.
