Seshadripuram Law College: Sound Academic Knowledge Driven By The Idea Of Adding Value

By Nadoja Dr. Wooday P. Krishna, Honorary General Secretary
Legal education is one of the distinctive areas of study throughout the world. Institutions that provide legal education have always nurtured the idea of social justice and oriented students in accordance with that. However, recent technological interventions have changed the nature of legal processes that were conducted in earlier days. Various technological tools and software have been put into use in order to facilitate the litigation processes. Very few institutions in the country have been able to understand this factor and most of the students remain unaware of the changing needs of the industry.

Seshadripuram Law College from Bengaluru, India is one of those institutions which has understood the technological possibilities surrounding the legal system and has formulated its course structure accordingly. Its vision is to make all the students aware of the new technologies that have been introduced in the system along with their compulsory education in law.

The college is handled by Seshadripuram Educational Trust that came into being in 1930 and was one of the few institutions to offer a complete range of 34 courses starting from Kindergarten to Post Graduation. After long years of imparting education the Seshadripuram Law College was established in 1984 and has gained a lot of wisdom by creating moral system of education. The college has always tried to make education of law affordable for everyone irrespective of financial backgrounds. "Our vision is to empower students with knowledge and confidence and our mission is to enable students to develop as intellectually alive, morally upright and socially responsible citizens who have a positive attitude and ever ready for personal and professional growth", mentioned by Dr. Praneetha B.S, Principal, Seshadripuram Law College.
The Growth StorySince the time of the college's inception and through the process of its evolution, the soul essence of Seshadripuram Educational Trust has always bee "œTo educate, to empower, to enrich". Following the footsteps of its own legacy, Seshadripuram Educational Trust imparts academic knowledge and inculcates value education to its students. It stands tall as a premier educational institution and, with its dynamic attitude, has been growing from strength to strength over the decades.

Located in the heart of the Garden City, Bengaluru, Seshadripuram Law College's infrastructure includes classrooms with ICT facility, well-furnished Moot Court Hall, Sports Room, Reading room and the library. Our library is the jewel in the crown with more than 19420 books, and 30 journals + 2 foreign journals along with online databases. The library has been appreciated by the guests (judges, advocates and professors) visiting our college for various events. Under the leadership of its President Sri N.R Panditharadhya, Nadoja Dr. Wooday P. Krishna, Honorary General Secretary and Sri. Krishnaswamy K., Chairperson of Law College, the institution has earned the reputation of being one of the leading institutions of Karnataka. With multiple campuses located across prime locations of the city and within the state, it has joint programmes with universities overseas too.

Operational Excellence

The law college has created its own stature in the industry and is currently ranked second in sports among the 109 law colleges that are affiliated under the Karnataka State Law University, Hubballi. This position of the college stands testimony to the absolute hard work that the management of the institution has undergone to make the institution what it is today. When it comes to teaching methodologies, the college has two different set of curriculums and faculty.

One part of the faculty takes responsibility of the formal and syllabus oriented aspects of education which forms the base of the student's education and on the other hand there are personnel who impart among students the knowledge of the industry.

These are advocates and lawyers who are veterans in the industry and have been practicing in the court of law for many years. "This is what we call as the shared education system which we have implemented three years ago and this program has really helped in giving practical insight into application of laws to our students", mentioned by the Principal.

Future Endeavours

The college believes that every individual needs affordable, relevant, and quality education to fulfil personal aspirations and constantly strives towards meeting this social need by inclusion and expansion of new streams of education in its institutions and provide World Class Infrastructure for Learning, Research and application of knowledge. "In the years to come, we have plans to open our own wing for post-doctoral research the preparations for which are already underway", concludes the Principal.

"œOur vision is to empower students with knowledge and confidence and our mission is to enable students to develop as intellectually alive, morally upright and socially responsible citizens"
