Established in 1968, SDNB Vaishnav College was founded on the visionary principles of Shri Nanalal Bhatt and the Cork Industries Charities Trust, making it the first women's college in Kancheepuram's rural area. The Chairman Smt. Mamta D. Bhatt is a dynamic and energetic leader with innovative ideas and with the potential of executing them precisely. The College Secretary, Shri. Chandrakant M. Tolia, is a meticulous planner with a panoramic vista for the development of education especially for first generation women learners. The College Secretary - Academics Shri. Nimish C.

Tolia, with his visionary leadership provides stewardship to the institution to meet the globally changing scenario in education. Currently, it serves 7019 students, with 30 percent in the aided stream and 70 percent in the self-support stream, supported by 337 faculty members. The college offers 10 UG programs in the aided stream, alongside 20 UG, 16 PG, and 5 M.Phil programs, with nine departments recognized for research and all programs accredited by the University of Madras. “Over time, we have grown to offer a holistic education, blending academic excellence with personal and professional development, making it a beacon of empowerment for women,” says Dr. R. Centre for Inclusion and Equal Access (CIEA) has been established with the aim of empowering young women with disability studying at SDNB Vaishnav College for Women by offering short-term training in employability skills through the use of educational and assistive technology. The Counseling Cell of the college provides a range of counseling and support services to address students’ emotional, psychological, and social needs.

The SDNB Center for Skill Development offers benchmark skill-based courses in collaboration with industries, focusing on Financial Markets, GST, ArthaVidhya in Sales and Tax, Security Operations, Risk Management, and Fundamentals of Capital Markets and Banking. In addition, the center provides advanced training in technologies such as machine learning, IoT, robotics, drone building, front-end and back-end development, UI/UX design, cloud computing, data science, cybersecurity, and game development using Python. These programs are tailored to meet the growing demand for skilled tech professionals. Additionally, the center offers Coursera courses for both students and faculty members – as a part of the SDNB Faculty Upskilling Program.

The Vaishnav Centre for Innovation, Incubation & Entrepreneurship Development (VCIIED) aligns with national policies to foster practical training in areas like Eco-Products Making, Mehendi Art, Bakery, Jute Products, Block Printing, and Tailoring. This initiative enables students to launch ventures, including the on-campus Aavin Parlour outlet and Foodiegram, initiated by alumni. The college also supports ventures such as SDNB Consultancy Services LLP and FOODIESGRAM, offering real-world experience through projects like the Sanitary Napkin Production Unit and the bakery outlet, "Taste of Paradise."
