KLE Graduate School of Hotel Management (KLEGSHMCT) was started with the aim of educating the needy of North Karnataka candidates. KLEGSHMCT offers the same level of program comparable with the best in this field with state-of-the-art infrastructure. The institute focus-es with a mission is to offer students Good practical knowledge & Skill based Higher education, the institute fulfills the needs of global employability with lifelong learning for Catering & Hospitality industrial trends.
Creating the Perfect Learning Environment By offering class-leading education to students from all walks of life, KLEGSHMCT aims to realize the vision to nurture a competitive & knowledgeable workforce & develop them into an ethically workforce of the hospitality industry. "Our quality policy is to develop skills knowledge & ability necessary to take-up the day-to-day challenges that emerge in the hospitality industry. We aim to enhance practical ability among students and to inculcate a sense of lifelong learning we promote, encourage and deliver courses as per the demands in the industry. Many things in the Hospitality sector are changed according to the present generation and living style, but the curriculum and academic rigour do not meet the demands. To bridge this gap in the hospitality education sector, KLEGSHMCT dynamically up-grades the curriculum to meet the changing needs of the industry.
By offering research-oriented education, the institute aims to always stay ahead of the rest. In a paradigm shift from conventional ways of marking the assessments, we have started a new initiative with GPA score which allows students to retain consistency during their continuous assessment and the management is proud that ours is one of the fewest departments in the University to take such a lead keeping in view the needs of the candidates", says, Dr. Prabhakar B. As a matter of practice KLEGSHMCT structured the curriculum in a way that it is 60 percent of practical and 40 percent of theory aspects and it offers excellent opportunities to excel with its best practices like weekend immersion programs with tied up properties, CXO meets, Hospitality research components for 1.5 years, Project incubation facilities for 1.5 years, Choice based Credits system for courses, Earn while you learn components, Event based assessments, APP based educations, and interacting with industry experts for regular classes.
KLEGSHMCT's curriculum is set by the board studies which consist of leading industry experts, experienced academicians, education advisors, & hospitality industry consultants. With highly qualified professionals and academicians, the course is developed to be at par with the Hospitality & Event industry and the curriculum is designed in a way that it can meet the demand of the industry in a very efficient & smarter way. As the core courses are handled with the inputs of Industrial Professionals the gap between the industry and Institute is bridged and this helps the students to get placed easily. As part of the pre-placement activities, the students are filtered with a grade system from the first semester itself. Those who lack skills are provided extra care and support and this allows them to reach their true potential. Taking Huge Leaps for the Future More than the challenge of infrastructure in the physical platform the institute has prioritized to establish itself in a very short span of time on online platforms to counter the onslaught of the Covid19 pandemic. To help the upcoming student entrepreneurs, KLEGSHMCT has taken various initiatives and the Centre for Entrepreneur-ship Development; Govt. of Karnataka has also identified KLEGSHMCT as a Centre of excellence. Using strong industry relationships, the Graduate School is also able to identify and nurture young entrepreneurs.
KLEGSHMCT is currently in the process of collaborating with international universities to create dual course options and through this, the institute is aiming to create more top-notch hospitality professionals. "Going forward, we are aiming to become a full-fledged constituent of KAHER with support from Governmental Institutions in growing the Hospitality & Tourism talent in this part of the state. Several MoUs are underway with Skill Sector Councils at State and National Level with joint certification options with KLEGSHMCT. This is for students to offer their candidature to attain gainful employment upon successful completion of the desired programs which are on the offer under the accreditation of IFCA Indian Federation of Culinary Associations, says, Dr. Prabhakar Kore when asked about the future plans of the institute.
He has been the Chairman of the institute for the past 30 years. Today under his able leadership KLE Society has 246 Institutions, in which 16000 dedicated & motivated faculty members are serving and over 1,10,262 students have enrolled for various courses ranging from Kindergarten to Post-doctoral courses, in traditional, technical & medical educational institutions.
