According to IMARC Group’s report, the Indian Higher Education market size is expected to reach a net worth of 11.1 trillion dollars by 2032, growing at a CAGR of 8.46 percent. The higher education scenario is changing dynamically influenced by several factors. Modernization of education is taking place with changes being made in the National Education Policy and the integration of innovative technologies like AI. Institutions across the country are offering distinctive education frameworks and working on establishing a modern infrastructure that motivates the growth of students. However, the progress of any institution solely depends on the vision of its leader. We can observe the emergence of numerous higher education institutions but to bring out the true essence of education, accurate vision, knowledge, and the very will to serve the society is required.

In this regard, Dr Avinash D. Kate, Dean (Art and Design) of Jain University stands out with his vision on the meaning of education. He believes that education is not something that can be gained only from textbooks and theories, but it is also about the growth of conscience in an individual that will guide students to become self-sufficient individuals. He believes in bringing out the inner talents of students through constant motivation and by building the most advanced education infrastructure with the integration of the latest technologies.

Dr Kate is actively involved and connected in the art of living, moral upliftment, literacy programs, personality development, self-employment schemes in rural areas, the Swachh Bharat Movement, and other cultural and social activities. “I have contributed regularly through active participation in several social and extension activities such as Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, tree plantation, female feticide, Voter awareness campaign, through wall paintings, mural paintings, posters, and others by involving with several state and central governmental agencies and received several accolades and laurels”, he mentioned.

Distinctive Focus

Dr Kate’s view towards education has been created by life experiences as the son of a principal and being a farmer by tradition. He has understood the importance of practical education in life and has tried to create an infrastructure based on that understanding. The university currently has numerous native and foreign agency collaborations to support the execution of seminars and workshops on a varied range of subjects. All the students are motivated to exercise practicality and do projects that bring out their interests in life. In the fields of science, be it arts and design, all the students can perform projects based on their interests and highlight them in national and international workshops. “I have devised and executed several activities for motivating and inspiring the students through yoga, meditation camps, and screening of motivational documentaries. I have also worked with several agencies including Bharat Sanchar Nigam, the Indian Railway, the District Collector, the Superintendent of Police, the Media, the Traffic department, the Municipal Corporation, the Civil Hospital of Jalgaon, and others in the beautification of the town through thoughtful murals and paintings on the pre-identified walls of the town”, said Dr Kate.
