"Beyond IIMs" B-Schools Survey, 2015

Despite the huge demand for highly qualified labor in the management sector, CAT 2014 recorded a new low of 1,89,759 from the previous eight years, down nearly 33 percent from its peak in 2008. With, six new proposed IIMs being added to the existing 13, the chances for securing a seat in one of the IIMs has increased in leaps and bounds. Yet, the IIMs can only accommodate 3335 students against the huge number of aspirants that apply each year. Hence, gaining an MBA degree from the prestigious IIMs will continue to be a distant dream for majority of the students in the country. A vast majority of students who do not make the cut in IIMs often ponder about the future of their career aspirations. Today, there are institutions in the country that are providing quality management education at par with the level of IIMs. With a motive to provide the right guidance to MBA aspirants to look beyond the IIMs, Higher Education Review brings its second edition of "Beyond IIMs - B-School Survey, 2015." 

In 2014, when we ranked 50 B-schools out of 280 nominations that we received, we carried out a purely perception based survey, which was based on the opinions of alumni. Due to the huge success of first our first edition of the B-school survey, we have received 4 times more nominations and hence we have strengthened our approach to analyze the performance of Indian B-schools and ranking them. In this second edition of 'Beyond IIMs,' we have ranked B-schools across the country by combining the scores of a perception survey with the addition of a factual survey, which is based on the data inputs provided by B-schools. While our expert panel consisting of top HR Managers and Dignified Educationalists analyzed and verified the data to list out 80 percent of the factual survey, the remaining calculations were done by analyzing the perceptual survey. In the factual survey, we have divided the scores among different aspects given below to come up with a total score.

By taking a deeper step under the creamy layer of Management Studies in the country and at the same time describing the evolutionary journey taken by the B Schools to become one of the top business learning centers within a short span of time, Higher Education Review aims to provide the right insight to all its stakeholders: Aspiring Students, Management Institutions and the Industry.
