SBI Probationary Examination - 2020

One of the most sought after Banking jobs – SBI PO (State Bank of India Probationary Officer) examination to be conducted this year in the coming months. Every year millions of candidates opt for this examination because of the standard that SBI has. The SBI PO exam is hiring process will start once the notification is released. Candidates who are eligible and want to join the banking sector are requested to stay updated on announcements made by SBI.

SBI PO examination is conducted in three rounds – Preliminary, Mains and Interview round. Candidates must go past each round successfully. The final selection is done on the basis of merit.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must check the eligibility criteria before.

1. Candidates are required to possess a Bachelor’s degree in any stream from a recognized university.

2. Candidates appearing for final year examination are also eligible to sit for the examination.

3.  Candidates should be between the age group of 21 to 30 years (as on April 1st, 2020). Age relaxation is there for candidates belonging to reserved categories.

Maximum Number of Attempts Allowed

Candidates belonging to general category are eligible for 4 attempts and candidates belonging to general (PWD), OBC and OBC (PWD) categories can go for SBI PO examination for 7 times. There is no restriction in the number of attempts for candidates belonging to SC/ST (PWD) groups.

Application Fees for SBI PO

Candidates can pay the fees only by online mode using debit card, credit card or internet banking. Fees once paid are not refundable. Candidates belonging to SC/ST/PWD/XS (Ex-Serviceman; DXS - Disabled - Ex- Serviceman/ Dependent of Ex-servicemen) are required to pay INR 125 (intimation charges only). General and OBC category candidates need to pay INR 750 (including intimation charges).

SBI PO Preliminary Examination Pattern

The preliminary examination will have total 100 multiple choice questions. The examination will be conducted in online medium in one hour duration. 1 mark is awarded for each correct answer while 0.25 marks is deducted for every wrong answer. Students need to clear both sectional and overall cutoff marks in prelims.

SBI PO Main Examination Pattern

With a total of 250 questions of both multiple choice and descriptive types, main examination is conducted on online mode. Examination question paper is divided into four sections – Reasoning and Computer Aptitude, Data Analysis, Data Analysis and Interpretation, General Economics and Banking Awareness, and English Language. Candidates will get total of three hours (time divided according to sections).

Second Paper

The second paper is of descriptive type, where a candidate’s English Language (Letter Writing and Essay) is tested. Candidates will get 30 minutes time to answer 50 marks paper.

Group Discussion and Personal Interview

It is conducted by the bank for candidates who get pass the preliminary and main round. This round will have total of 50 marks.
