Newton School Launches India’s First UG Coding-Focused Entrance Exam
The Newton School of Technology launches India's inaugural undergraduate entrance examination centered on coding, named the Coding Newton Scholastic Aptitude Test (Coding NSAT). In contrast to conventional exams, it assesses hands-on coding abilities, providing a novel entry route. This project highlights the school's goal to redefine tech education by focusing on practical applications. This groundbreaking test seeks to evaluate students on their practical coding skills instead of traditional academic grades in Physics, Chemistry, and Math.
The test offers a new and inclusive method for admissions, especially for individuals enthusiastic about practical programming. Rather than relying on memorization, candidates are assessed based on their coding skills and their capacity to address practical issues. Set to take place at campuses in Sonipat, Pune, and Bangalore, the examination features segments on Arithmetics, Input & Output, and Coding Syntax, among others, with an overall weightage of 150 marks.
Siddharth Maheshwari, Co-founder of Newton School, highlighted that this initiative is in line with their goal of nurturing tech talent via a curriculum that reflects the realities of the industry. Although traditional admission exams focus mainly on classic subjects, the Coding NSAT offers a different opportunity for future technologists to demonstrate their abilities and potential.
