For a tidal push to development of advanced driver assistance systems, and relevant technologies, Continental India announced its partnership with IIT Delhi, IIT Madras, International Institute of Information Technology Bangalore (IIT-B), and the Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology (III-D) to facilitate research and development of ADAS. Explaining its working together with these institutions, the German company will be developing important skills required for the similar systems and functionalities, thereby boosting the adoption of autonomous technologies.

ADAS technologies are still relatively nascent in its adoption in the Indian market, although it is gaining increased awareness, the company noted. The company is one of the key drivers for the acceptance of ADAS by developing needed technology along with helping direct the public and policy discussion towards a safer future for Indian road users, it added

The German company stated that now it is involved in research on scenario perception for improving safety for bicycles, pedestrians and animals. While sensor inputs are used by conventional ADAS, for LiDAR or cameras, Continental India’s R&D utilizes other advanced technologies like artificial intelligence and deep machine learning for enabling the systems for better prediction of unexpected scenarios in the world.

Continental has been present in India for close to 50 years, through technology partnerships and joint ventures for its various businesses. Currently, the company, which makes auto components, tyres and offers various kinds of technologies, has close to 9,000 employees across 15 locations in the country.
