IIT-Guwahati offers Online B.Sc. (Hons) in AI & Data Science

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati has declared the initiation of its four-year Bachelor of Science (Honours) program in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence for the academic session of 2025–26.

The program, provided by the Mehta Family School of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, aims to prepare students with modern skills in data science and AI via a curriculum aligned with industry standards, global experiences, and adaptable exit choices.

Applications are currently open, and qualified candidates are urged to apply promptly.

The curriculum is presented in a trimester system, consisting of three terms annually. It offers a variety of classes, covering basic to advanced subjects, organized in 12-week modules that consist of video lectures and case studies. At present, more than 1,700 students from 21 nations are participating in the program.

Learners can utilize recorded lectures, resources like Jupyter Notebook, and high-performance computing facilities such as PARAM Kamrupa and PARAM Ishan. Voluntary campus tours and involvement in the yearly IITG AI Confluence are included in the program.

Several exit choices are offered: an Advanced Certificate at the end of the first year, a Diploma following the second year, a B.Sc. degree after the third year, and a B.Sc. (Honours) degree awarded after finishing the fourth year. Students who leave early can come back to continue their studies within a year.

The program welcomes a diverse audience of learners, such as recent high school graduates from both science and non-science fields, working professionals, entrepreneurs, and individuals looking to transition into AI and Data Science careers.

Candidates should have achieved a minimum of 60% in Class 12, with mathematics being a required subject. Candidates eligible through JEE (Advanced) are provided with direct admission, while others need to pass an online entrance test.

Graduates will be equipped for positions like Data Scientist, Machine Learning Engineer, and AI Consultant. The syllabus also readies students for competitive tests such as GATE. IIT Guwahati’s Online Internship and Placement Cell offers career assistance via tailored training, industry workshops, and networking possibilities.
