HITAM Launches 3+1+1 Twinning Program for International Engineering Careers
Hyderabad Institute of Technology and Management (HITAM) has launched the International 3+1+1 Integrated Twinning Program, a pioneering program to equip students with global skills and employment-readiness. As part of the program, students study for three years in HITAM in India and then move on to an international partner university in their fourth and fifth years.
Students will receive a B.Tech degree from JNTUH and a Master's degree from a top-ranked global university during graduation. HITAM has collaborated with world-class universities, such as the Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE), the University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH), and George Mason University (GMU).
The program fast-tracks academic and professional development by providing a seamless pathway for students pursuing higher education overseas. It blends international academic outlooks with practical industry applications, equipping future engineers to be creative problem solvers. Students gain from international research exposure, industry partnerships, and extensive placement assistance.
Established in partnership with industry partners and research centers, the curriculum is problem-based with hands-on project work, thereby equipping the students with skills to succeed in the international workplace.
The students in the U.S. are also eligible to benefit from Optional Practical Training (OPT), with which they are permitted to practice in their professional field for a period of three years. The program also has access to scholarship and financial support, thus costing less than typical master's degrees overseas.
"The International 3+1+1 Program is a transformative step in making global education more accessible to Indian students. This collaboration ensures that HITAM graduates are equipped with the skills, knowledge, and industry exposure necessary to thrive in the global workforce. Through structured academic support, industry-driven learning, and global partnerships, this program ensures that HITAM students are not just globally ready but globally competitive", said Dr. Sanjay G Dhande, Former Director, IIT Kanpur and Chairman of, Governing Body, HITAM.
"The University of Alabama in Huntsville is excited to partner with HITAM and JNTUH on the Integrated (3+1+1) Twinning Programs in aerospace/mechanical engineering and computer science. The UAH and HITAM faculty have coordinated on crafting programs to provide students with outstanding educational and career development opportunities in two of the world's great technology hubs: Hyderabad and Huntsvill", added Dr. Jon Hakkila, Associate Provost of International Services, Academic Integrity, and Dean of the Graduate School, University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH), USA.
