The Higher Education Minister for Karnataka, CN Ashwatha Narayan has assured that the National Education Policy(NEP) will not affect, other facilities such as reservations, right to education as well as scholarships for anyone. He made these remarks during a meeting with Muslim leaders, representatives and other stakeholders of the Muslim community on Tuesday.

He also stated that, “NEP does not have any ill-intention of suppressing any section of society. It is holistic and inclusive. Implementation of NEP will ensure that no section of society is left behind in marching towards progress.”

The minister also said that the NEP will strengthen government institutions to provide quality education to government institutions where a majority of students come from economically weaker sections and minority communities.

He added, “the objectives of NEP are very clear and transparent. It only aspires to build a strong India by empowering future citizens to become globally competitive. The government is well aware of the fact that real progress can not become a reality if any section is suppressed.

He further assured that the NEP does not violate provisions mentioned in Articles 28, 29, and 30 of the Indian constitution and cautioned against intermixing NEP, reservation policy and welfare policy. He then informed us that the draft of NEP had been prepared after extensive consultations across the country, including the leaders of Congress and Janta Dal United(Secular).
