Centre Decides to Cancel CBSE Class XII Board Exams 2021
The Centre on Tuesday decided to cancel the CBSE Class XII exams this year due to the current coronavirus pandemic, which is a huge relief for parents and students. Prime Minister Narendra Modi made the statement, saying that the decision was made with the children's welfare in mind. Following the statement, the CBSE promised that Class XII students' results would be released in a time-bound manner. This is critical since the results will impact the procedure and timing of students' enrolment in higher education. The Board further stated that, similar to what happened in 2020, if some class XII students elect to take the tests, the details will be provided as soon as the situation stabilizes. The CISCE, in addition to the CBSE, has decided to cancel the Class XII board exams. Chairman of the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations, Dr G Immanuel, was reported by news agency ANI as saying that the ISC Class XII results will be released soon. The children will be paying particular attention to how the grades will be calculated.
PM Modi made the statement on Twitter after the meeting. He stated that the choice was made to safeguard the youth's future. After the news, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, who has been advocating for the scrapping of CBSE exams, congratulated the pupils. She stated that youngsters have been anxious as a result of this and that they now need to relax and enjoy their win.
Priyanka Chaturvedi, a Shiv Sena MP, praised the decision, saying it was a huge relief for CBSE kids. Meanwhile, Union Education Minister Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, who is being treated at the Delhi AIIMS for post-Covid problems, remarked that the Modi government has always prioritized student safety and professional advancement. He also stated that the CBSE Class 12 results will be announced using the criteria established the previous year.
The cancellation of the CBSE Class XII exams by the Modi government came ahead of the case's Supreme Court hearing. The Centre has requested that the Supreme Court take some time to make a decision on the subject.
